Year in review… a little ahead of schedule
Every December, I take a look back at the year that’s passed, and also take the opportunity to look to the future, just to reflect on where I am and ensure that my focus is where it should be. This year, I’m doing this exercise a little ahead of schedule, simply because I find myself in “What?” and “Wow!” mode a lot lately. Let me explain.
As much as I know which direction I’m heading in, I’m still very much open to whatever comes my way in terms of new projects and opportunities.
I’ve said it a lot during the last few months, but I feel like I’m at a turning point in my professional life and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything that has brought me to this point. As you have probably noticed, I’m travelling a lot more these days. Thank you for following along on my adventures – and I’m happy to say that I’m fortunate that they will continue in 2017. I’m a firm believer that learning is a big part of travel and I’m thrilled to be able to visit new places and share my discoveries and new favourite places with you. You’ve probably also noticed a focus on events that allow us to spend time together in real life – personal contact is so important. I’m delighted with these opportunities to meet face to face.
I don’t know where all this will lead, but rather than drive myself nuts with a thousand questions, I’ve decided to go with the flow and really soak in the amazing opportunities that come my way, while staying true to myself and who I am, and above all, not taking anything for granted.
I have lots of ideas for new projects… the list gets longer and longer by the day.
My primary focus will always be on family – I’m interested in anything and everything family-related. In that vein, I have thoughts and dreams about what else I’d like to accomplish (maybe a first book, or a web or TV series – imagine! – and other ways to expand the reach of JSUM).
I’m filled with gratitude to know that I have you in my corner, reading and listening to my thoughts and ideas, interested in my projects, where I am, and what’s new with JSUM. We work really hard to bring you content that interests you and is useful, that makes you think and that adds a little something to your day; I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful, amazing team for all that they do.
2016 has been a year filled with moments where I’ve had to pinch myself in recognition of the good fortune the universe has seen fit to send my way (hello, Rio Olympics!), and though I’m content and grateful with where things are, the phone keeps ringing. And I keep answering, like a kid with stars in her eyes…
I see all this as a sign that I’m in the right place, in the right frame of mind, and doing what I’m meant to be doing. I’ve (finally) found my place. And that feeling is priceless.
Can’t wait to see what’s in store next (even while I’m soaking up every moment right now!).
